On the 6th of May the island of Mallorca is set to host the first edition of Kill the Hill, a 110 km cycling tour in which participants will have to face 2,000 metres of elevation gain. The ascent of Puig Major, the highest peak in the Balearic Islands at 1,436 meters above sea level and a part of the Serra de Tramuntana, a region recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, will undoubtedly present the greatest challenge of this exceptional cycling experience.
There will be a timed ascent of 7 kilometers between craggy rocks with a 9% average gradient and 16% ramps, as well as breathtaking landscapes of Mallorca. Cycling enthusiasts have a misconception that there is no way to reach Puig Major’s summit because it is a military base, but the Kill the Hill ride has dispelled that notion. The route was made exclusively available to participants by the event organizers.
The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6th, from the Puerto Pollença Aerodrome. To ensure optimum safety and exclusivity in the services for everyone who faces this unique experience, Kill the Hill has limited spots to 300 individuals and gives exclusive presents in the registration for all participants. A former professional cyclist named Jan Eric Schwarzer and the organization Kumulus are the organizers of Kill the Hill.
