Mallorca in February

Rate this post

One of our favorite cycling months in Mallorca is February. The weather is typically dry, there is little wind, and it is extremely mild; there is no traffic, only bicycles on the roads. There is a vast network of great roads with little traffic, routes with beautiful sea views, and routes that are easily accessible to the highlands to the northwest of Palma for those who haven’t cycled much in the south of the island. It’s a cycling haven!

In February, the days in Mallorca begin to lengthen as we progressively move closer to spring. In the countryside, landscapes are beginning to appear, along with blossoming flowers and almond trees. We have more daylight hours and a warmer temperature than in January.

How is the climate in Mallorca in the month of February?

With an average of 8 hours of sunshine every day, February definitely has a more upbeat vibe. While nighttime lows are around 5 degrees, daytime highs can reach 15 degrees, making it feel much warmer than northern Europe at this time of year. Keep in mind that temperatures decrease in the evenings, often dropping to 5°C, so be sure to bring a heavy coat. At the beginning of February, sunrise occurs about 8:00 am, but by the end of the month it has retreated to around 07:30 am, while sunset occurs around 18:00 pm.

Local fairs and fiesta’s

On Mallorca, there are more than four million almond trees, making them a significant feature of the landscape. In February, almond blossoms are at their most gorgeous, therefore Son Servera will host its annual Fira de la Flor d’Ametler. Various sorts of almonds, works of art crafted from almond oil, almond wood, almond-scented candles, fragrances, and floral arts and crafts made from almond flower are just some of the things that can be found at this almond fair. Sa Revetla,’ a traditional dance performance from Mallorca, is often included in the morning festivities. As Sencelles prepares to honor their patron saint, the Festes Santa Agueda will take place. This event often include a parade and one of Mallorca’s renowned “Correfocs” (fire runs).

Carnival

Mallorca’s Carnival marks the beginning of the Lenten season (Sa Rua and Sa Rueta). The highlight of the celebration is a procession through Palma’s streets, complete with music, dancing, and fireworks. The kids will love this event!

A light festival at Palma Cathedral

Visitors to Palma’s Gothic cathedral on February 2 for the Light Festival are encouraged to get there by 8:00 a.m. Due to the sun’s current position, the rosette window at Palma Cathedral will seem as a figure eight when viewed from the other wall. Don’t miss this amazing spectacle, which only takes place twice a year on November 11 (the feast of Sant Martin) and February 2 (the feast of La Candelaria).
