Cycling All Year-Round Mallorca

Clear azure sky and pleasant sunshine? Isn’t there just one possible interpretation of this? In Mallorca, it’s clearly summertime. Not so fast, my friend. Every year, the Balearic Islands enjoy an average of 300 days of sunlight. As a result, there are enough of bright days to go around throughout the colder months.

When the crowds have dispersed, it’s easy to get the impression that the island is all yours to explore on two wheels. For a few weeks in late March and into May, the island’s two primary cycling seasons are to be found, followed by a brief period in the autumn. Cycling in Mallorca during the winter (namely, December and January) seems like a lot of fun. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Island Is Perfect Size for Cycling

Mallorca is 312 kilometers in circle. That is the magic number employed by its biggest yearly cycling championship. The Mallorca 312 starts at Playa de Muro in the island’s north-western corner.

To enjoy cycling throughout the island, you don’t have to be the kind of cyclist that visits the notorious Sa Calobra Road. Mallorca is a location where you may do things slowly. That means you may stay healthy and enjoy the ride without feeling obligated to do as many bicycle kilometers as possible in a day.

Nothing is far away on Mallorca. The roads are in excellent condition, and there are typically properly delineated cycling lanes. We believe that the north of Mallorca has an advantage over the rest of the island as a location to stay for your vacation, especially if you pick Alcudia and Pollensa. First and foremost, it is breathtakingly lovely. During the cycling seasons, it is also the most popular portion of the island, therefore it has good cycling infrastructure.

There is lots of free parking available. This creates new opportunities. During the winter, renting a vehicle on the island is quite affordable. You’ll nearly always be able to find a good deal large enough to put bicycles in the back.

Enjoy Mallorca to the fullest

Cars are the greatest mode of transportation to get access the island’s dozens of bicycle paths. Cycling isn’t only a pastime for visitors in Mallorca. You’ll see a lot of locals doing it, too. It’s not uncommon for people to throw their bikes in the trunk and go for a different section of the island on their bikes.

In the winter, the early mornings may be both bright and chilly. When you leave Alcudia or Pollensa, the temperature might be as low as zero outdoors. Temperatures may rise as high as 15 or 16 degrees by mid-morning.

The island has a lot of beautiful rural roads. Occasionally, you’ll see a tractor or a horse-and-tractor team. Many of Mallorca’s rural roads are so remote that you’d be unlikely to see more than one automobile a day.

Cycling in the countryside of Mallorca is a great opportunity to practice mindfulness. In the wildflowers and scents, you’ll be astounded by the diversity. As a bonus, your body will become in shape as a result of all this.

We associate the feeling of speeding down rural roads to the when schussing down a mountain on a ski vacation. One major distinction must be made, though. Cycling is cheaper than driving. The roads are free to use.

Cycling in Winter Is Invigorating
